We have a library of leaflets and booklets of places of interest in each cottage.

Scotland has some of the UK's most stunning scenery and visitor attractions. Right here on our door step, 6 miles, is the World Heritage site of New Lanark. This former cotton mill is now a museum of philanthropist Robert Owen's new town and is worthy of several visits so a must to see. Set in the stunning Clyde valley and on the banks of the river Clyde it also boasts the Falls of Clyde. These magnificent water falls are just spectacular all year round but more so after heavy rain fall.

Edinburgh. Scotland's capital city,30 miles. This truly multi cultural city offers something for everyone. Another World Heritage Site it is home to its famous castle, winding streets once trod by the likes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, museums, galleries and endless eateries to name but a few things. It is of coarse the birth place of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Edinburgh Military Tattoo during August ending with a spectacular fireworks display set to music with the musicians situated underneath the castle in Princes Street gardens. Celebrated more than Christmas the Scots really do know how to bring the New Year in with Hogmanay. The Princes Street street party ends with another breathtaking fireworks display.

Just 11 miles away is the border town of Biggar. Small in size but big in heart Biggar has a lot to offer. It boasts several museums including the UK's only Gas Works Museum. It hosts a great agricultural show in June along with its gala week and ridings which are synonymous with the Scottish Borders. It also hosts a great Hogmanay! The street is closed for the lighting of the enormous bonfire and Hogmanay celebrations.

Just 30 miles away Glasgow is yet another must see when visiting Scotland. The word cosmopolitan was created just to describe Glasgow. It's a very green sprawling city and did the UK proud in hosting the Commonwealth games in 2014. It of course has endless visitor attractions, the Science museum for example, is an amazing space to entertain the young and not so young, a shoppers paradise and unlimited places to enjoy a lazy lunch or evening meal.

We have so much for offer on our door step it's hard to pick out just a few. But the beauty of our location is we are so central you can cover a great deal of ground in a day. The Falkirk Wheel, Hopetoun House, Drumlanrig Castle, Edinburgh Indoor Climbing Arena, mountain biking at Glentress, Calzean Castle. The list is endless. But very accessible is Loch Lomond to the north (pictured) and The Lake District in England to the south which are both just an hour and a half away and most certainly deserve a mention.
